It's Picnic Time Again!

You're invited to our Annual Spring Picnic and Meeting on Saturday, May 5 from 4-7 PM at the Coombs Creek Trail
(near the intersection of Junior and Kessler Parkway).

As in the past, we will be supplying Babe's Fried Chicken and soft drinks; please bring a covered dish or a dessert to share. There will also be a surprise special fun event for the kids.
This is a great opportunity to visit with friends and neighbors and enjoy some great food while we discuss important business and elect our board members for 2012-2013.

We look forward to seeing you there!

East Kessler Park is Moving to
U.S. Congressional District 30

As a result of the Congressional Redistricting, East Kessler Park is no longer in Republican Congressman Pete Session's District 32. As you can see from the map, District 32 now stretches north from Downtown.

We are also not in the newly-drawn Congressional District 33 (for which Domingo Garcia, Roberto Salazar, Jason Roberts, etc. are running in the May 29th Primary to be the Democratic nominee). As you can see from the map, that district is carved around Precincts 4436 and 4437 and stretches west.

Instead, we are now inside District 30, which is currently represented by Democratic Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson.

In the upcoming May 29 Primary Election, Democratic incumbent Johnson is facing opposition from Barbara Mallory Caraway and Taj Clayton to be the District 30 candidate for the Democratic Party in November.

Travis Washington, Jr. is running unopposed in the Republican Primary to be the Republican candidate for District 30 in the general election in November.

Coombs Creek Cleanup: Saturday from 1-5 PM

After the Pet Parade this Saturday, March 31, we encourage everyone to stick around for the Coombs Creek Cleanup from 1-5 PM. This is a part of the Loving My Park program by the City of Dallas. We'll meet at the Coombs Creek Trail and help cleanup the park. Please wear long pants and sturdy shoes, and bring your gloves.

In appreciation, the East Kessler Park Neighborhood Association will be providing homemade pecan smoked brisket and iced tea.
